About this race
The Stook 10k follows the final ten kilometres of the Stook 10 Mile course through the Kilkenny countryside around Dungarvan. The opening three kilometres or so are flat on country roads, before the route begins its climb towards Stook Hill. The high point comes a little after the halfway mark, and from there the road descends for the remainder of the race, bringing runners to a fast finish. Because it joins the 10 mile route part way through, it offers the same character of gentle valleys, rural roads and a testing hill on a shorter distance, and the downhill finish rewards those who save energy for the climb. The 10k starts ten minutes after the 10 mile, and all finishers receive a cowbell and refreshments at the finish, with a 5k also taking place on the day.
