About this race
The Grange-Fermoy New Year's Eve 10k is a single-lap loop starting just outside Glanworth, on the road roughly 400 metres from the GAA pitch. From the start, runners cross an old bridge down into the village before heading out into the surrounding countryside towards Kildorrery, turning right at a crossroads by a playground. The route then follows quiet rural roads through a series of named crossroads, turning left at String Cross around the 4km mark, left again at Rahard Cross at 6km, and left at Egan's Cross at 8km, before heading back towards Glanworth for the finish near the top of the Ballyhooly Road. The course is entirely on open country roads through the townlands around Glanworth, County Cork, with no significant urban sections. Organised by Grange-Fermoy AC, the race has become a well-established fixture on the Cork athletics calendar, bringing runners out on the last morning of the year.
