About this race
The Cill Dara RFC 10k starts just north of Kildare town and heads south along the approach road, dropping down towards the town centre before joining the certified Kildare Senior Road Race lap through the streets. From there the route continues out past Southgreen Hill on the western edge of town, before turning back through the centre and out along the road towards Kildare Golf Club, taking in a roughly one-kilometre stretch alongside the course before climbing back towards the start/finish. The terrain is gently rolling rather than flat, with a couple of modest climbs on the outward and return legs and one longer dip through the middle of the course around the two-kilometre mark, on a mix of town streets and open rural road. Overall elevation change across the lap is modest, making it a genuinely undulating but not especially hilly out-and-back-style loop around Kildare town.
