About this race
The Hollymount International Road Race is a 10k run through the village of Hollymount in County Mayo, starting outside the Post Office on the Ballinrobe Road. The course is made up of three loops of the village, run entirely on road, with a few gentle inclines along the way rather than any major climbs. Parts of the circuit run along narrow singletrack roads lined with low stone walls, while the long acre, the grass strip down the middle of the road, divides the course into two running lanes. Runners finish at the top of the street after the third lap. One of the longest-running road races in Ireland, it has been held every November since 1966, and a shorter junior race is run on the same morning ahead of the main event.
