About this race
The Stook 5k is a family-friendly fun run on a loop around the village of Dungarvan in County Kilkenny, and it avoids the main climb to Stook Hill that features in the 10k and 10 mile races. The course is a rolling circuit of roughly five kilometres on local roads, with one modest rise around the halfway point and otherwise gentle undulations, making it accessible to beginners and families alongside more experienced runners. It starts at 11:50, twenty minutes after the 10 mile, on the same morning as the longer races. Organisers describe it as a fun run for all the family. The event is organised by Gowran AC and holds an Athletics Ireland permit, with refreshments provided for finishers at the finish line, and the first 250 entries receive a race t-shirt.
