Run Forest Run Tollymore 10k

Run Forest Run Tollymore's 10k starts and finishes at Tollymore Forest Park on Bryansford Road in Newcastle, County Down, and sets off shortly before the 5k. The course mixes forest paths with a small amount of tarmac and is mostly unsurfaced trail, following the Shimna River through the forest. The route climbs gradually along the river and passes the Hermitage, with panoramic views of the Mourne Mountains and woodland where scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed. The profile begins with a descent to the river, followed by a long, gradual climb through the middle of the race and a final descent back towards the start area, so it is a rolling trail course rather than a flat one. The 10k is part of the Acti-Snack Run Forest Run winter series organised by Born2Run Events, and runners park in the upper car park, following marshal directions.
