About this race

The Fat Turkey Run is a 10k out-and-back road race on the Howth peninsula in north Dublin. The race starts outside St Fintan's Church in Sutton, with the finish on the grass verge opposite the church. Runners head along Carrickbrack Road, which climbs steadily above the shoreline of Dublin Bay, before turning onto Baily Green Road and continuing the climb to the Howth Summit car park. The summit car park is the turnaround point and has a water and aid station. Runners then retrace the route, descending back down Carrickbrack Road to the finish in Sutton, making for a fast second half. The course is mainly on paved road and is hilly, with a long steady climb and a long descent. Registration and prize giving take place at Suttonians RFC, across from Sutton DART station, and the race raises funds for Suttonians RFC and the IRFU Charitable Trust.
