About this race

The Fighting Blindness Glendalough Trail Run covers approximately 15km of forest trail in the Glendalough valley in the Wicklow Mountains. The race briefing takes place at the rear of the Glendalough Hotel, with the start line around 600m from the main car park at the lower lake. The route is almost entirely off-road, with only around 500m on tarmac, winding through scenic forest trails around the valley. A notably muddy section of roughly 600m, complete with low tree branches to duck under, adds a genuinely technical character to the run, and trail shoes are strongly recommended. Total elevation gain and loss over the course is approximately 450m, giving a properly undulating profile rather than a flat run. A shorter, non-competitive 8.5km option covers similar terrain while avoiding the muddiest stretch, making the event accessible to joggers and walkers as well as competitive trail runners, all in aid of the Fighting Blindness charity.
