About this race
The Jingle Bells 5K starts on Acres Road in Phoenix Park, close to the Chapelizod side of the park, and follows the park's network of paved roads on a mostly out-and-back loop. From the start the route climbs gradually through the park's interior, passing near Furze Road before reaching its highest point around the two-kilometre mark near Chesterfield Avenue and the North Road junction, deep in the heart of the park. The course then turns and descends steadily back towards the start area, dropping past the Khyber Road and Wellington Monument side of the park before finishing back near Islandbridge and the Chapelizod gate. Run entirely on tarmac park roads closed to general traffic, the course is gently undulating rather than flat, with a modest climb in the first half and a longer, gentler descent in the second, making for a fast finish.
