About this race
The Eyeries 5 Mile Road Race starts and finishes in the picturesque, brightly coloured village of Eyeries, on the Wild Atlantic Way section of the Beara Peninsula in West Cork. As the closing and centrepiece race of the Beara AC Autumn 5 Mile Series, the course is widely regarded as the toughest of the four, with organisers and past competitors describing it as a difficult, undulating route made harder by the exposed coastal winds typical of the peninsula in November. The terrain is entirely on public road, climbing and descending through the countryside surrounding the village with views out over Coulagh Bay. With over 100 prizes on offer across individual and team categories, spanning junior through to over-75 age groups for both men and women, the race draws a strong turnout each year. It finishes with a well-regarded post-race spread in the village hall, capping off a full autumn of Beara peninsula racing.
