About this race
The World Half Marathon Festival half marathon takes place in Donadea Forest Park in County Kildare, as part of a two-day festival run by Pop Up Races. The route is based on a 5km loop on gravel paths through the forest, which runners repeat to complete the distance. The course is officially measured, though the organisers warn that GPS watches may read between 20km and 22km, so runners should not be alarmed if their device differs from the official distance. The surface is gravel forest track rather than tarmac, and the profile is gently undulating without any major climbs. A water zone is located on the course every 3.6km. The half marathon is staged in several waves on the Saturday, with a 2.5 hour cut-off for the 11:30 start.
