About this race

The TriLakes Half Marathon is a road and path race that starts and finishes at the Caherlistrane GAA Grounds in County Galway. The course follows a single loop through the rural landscape surrounding the famous Knockma Hill—though participants do not have to climb the hill itself. The terrain is predominantly flat with some gentle rolling sections as it navigates the countryside on a mix of paved roads and local paths.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Loop Course type
2m limit 21.1m Start/finish drop
0.43km limit 10.5km Start/finish separation
