About this race
The Tullaroan Festival of Running Half Marathon is organised by Tullaroan Athletics Club and takes place on a single looped course of rural roads in and around the village of Tullaroan, Co. Kilkenny. The 13.1-mile route traverses the undulating hills that give this popular event its tagline, "Tullaroan Hills Gave Me Some Thrills." The course winds through scenic countryside on well-managed roads, with the half marathon completing one full loop. All finishers receive the event's much-celebrated Tullaroan t-shirt and a bespoke medal. Chip timing is provided throughout. Post-race refreshments include home baking with tea or coffee and bar access. The event also features a team competition and campervan parking, making it a well-supported festival weekend.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
