About this race
Night Challenge 4: Glendalough Short is a marked short-course night trail race through the Wicklow Mountains, part of the IMRA Night Challenge series held after dark. Covering roughly 4.8 to 5 kilometres, the route takes in sections of the Wicklow Way and St Kevin's Way, climbing through the forests and hillsides surrounding Glendalough on a shorter, less demanding version of the longer 10km course. The terrain is genuine mountain and forest trail rather than road, run entirely in darkness with the course marked for the night. Mandatory Level B kit is required for all entrants, along with a suitable head torch, given the technical, exposed nature of some sections. It offers a more accessible introduction to night trail running for those not ready to take on the full distance, while still capturing the atmosphere of one of Wicklow's most scenic valleys after dark.
