About this race
The Tarmonbarry 3/4 Marathon is the flagship distance of the annual multi-race event in Tarmonbarry village, County Roscommon, now in its 43rd year. All races start from Tarmonbarry village and follow AAI-measured courses on scenic, quiet rural roads through the Roscommon countryside before returning to the village to finish beside St Barry's GAA clubhouse. The village sits on the River Shannon at the border of Roscommon and Longford, and the surrounding roads offer a largely flat to gently undulating course through agricultural midlands landscape. All distances are chip timed. The 3/4 marathon distance of approximately 31.5km is popular with runners building towards a full marathon and attracts strong fields from clubs across Connacht and the wider midlands. The event typically takes place on the first Sunday of October.
