About this race
The Tullaroan Festival of Running 5k is organised by Tullaroan Athletics Club and takes place in and around the village of Tullaroan in Co. Kilkenny. The 5k course shares its early kilometres with the longer distances before branching off, covering scenic rural roads through the gently rolling Kilkenny countryside. The route is characterised by undulating hills and pleasant pastoral scenery. The race starts and finishes in Tullaroan village, with the 5k route joining the finish alongside competitors in the 10k, Half Marathon, and Marathon. The event is family-friendly and includes camping, shower facilities, and ample parking. Post-race refreshments including home baking and bar access are available at the finish. A bespoke finisher's medal is awarded to all participants.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
