About this race
The Ardagh Challenge 5K is a run or walk around the scenic village of Ardagh in south County Longford, starting in the village centre. The route map shows a loop on local roads around the village, all on paved surfaces. The profile is gently rolling, with a rise around the two-kilometre mark, a long descent and a steady climb back towards the village for the finish. The event is held between Christmas and the New Year and is organised by the Ardagh Moydow Glen Community Games Committee, with chip timing. It runs alongside the 10 mile challenge, which climbs over Ardagh Mountain, and a 1-mile fun run for primary school children. Registration is at the Ardagh Community Centre, and there are trophies for age categories and 5K placings, making it a friendly, community-run way to finish the festive period.
