About this race
The Wicklow Santa Dash 5K starts and finishes at Tinahely Community Hall in Co. Wicklow, run as an out-and-back course on the public roads around the town. The opening kilometre is entirely downhill, giving participants a fast start, and organisers route the return leg away from that same hill rather than sending runners back up it. The course is run on tarmac country roads and is open to both runners and walkers, making it one of the more accessible distances on the day. Entrants can choose from a selection of Christmas-themed finisher medals, with festive fancy dress encouraged throughout. As the shorter of the two distances on offer, alongside the longer 10K, the Santa Dash has become a popular pre-Christmas fixture in South Wicklow, drawing a broad mix of club runners, families and casual participants each December.
