About this race
The Caherdavin 10k starts in the Caherdavin area of north Limerick city and heads out of the residential streets on a loop into the quieter countryside to the north-west. Leaving the estate roads, the route runs north-west to a junction, then turns north along a rural road, swings west and continues north-west out into the countryside. It later returns along a long diagonal road that brings runners back down to the junction near the start, before a short run to the finish. The first three kilometres or so are flat, before a steady climb to the highest point of the course around the halfway mark. A long descent follows, and the final few kilometres are gently undulating. The course is mostly on paved roads, with some sections of other surfaces, and is traditionally run on St Stephen's Day.
