About this race

The Corofin Loop 8k is a road race based in the village of Corofin, County Galway, just off the M18 motorway. Runners assemble at the local community centre, Dr. Duggan Hall, before setting out on a loop of the quiet country roads surrounding the village. The course is described by organisers as mainly flat, making it one of the more approachable and fast options among the region's autumn road races. Roads are used rather than closed, so the early Sunday morning start takes advantage of light traffic. The race is fully marshalled and chip timed, and forms one half of the wider Corofin Loop event alongside the tougher 10 mile option, with runners choosing whichever distance suits them best. The event has grown into one of the largest permitted road races in the West of Ireland, drawing large entries from clubs across Galway, Mayo, Clare and beyond.
