Clonakilty 5 Mile Run

The Clonakilty 5 Mile Run starts and finishes at the Clonakilty Park Hotel, heading out of town along the Inchydoney Road towards the coast. The route crosses the first of the causeways leading out to Inchydoney Island, with views over the estuary on either side, before passing the Clogheen Cottages and turning back along the same road to finish at the hotel. The course runs entirely on open country road rather than trail or beach, giving a fast, scenic out-and-back route along one of West Cork's best-known coastal approaches. Entirely run by volunteers, the race donates all its proceeds to local charities and has grown quickly since its inaugural running in 2024, now attracting well over 900 finishers each January. It suits both competitive runners chasing a fast time on the flat coastal road and walkers taking on the distance at a more relaxed pace.
