About this race

The Tom Kelly 8K is a road race in the village of Ardfert, County Kerry, run in memory of St Brendan's AC founding member Tom Kelly. The route starts in Ardfert and heads north out of the village on local roads, before turning east and then north-east on a long, straight section towards the north-eastern corner of the course. From there it turns south and runs back towards the village on a different set of roads, before the closing stretch heads west along a southern road and turns north-west to the finish just south of Ardfert. The course is mostly paved. The opening half is flat, after which a gradual climb leads to the highest part of the course in the final third, followed by a level section and a descent in the closing stretch. Walkers and runners are welcome.
