About this race
The LimerickRuns 5km, Race 1 of the series, is a 5k road race around the village of Castleconnell, County Limerick, on the banks of the River Shannon. The course starts and finishes in the village and is run as a single clockwise loop on fully paved roads. From the start, runners head north along a road beside the river, before turning east and then south along a long straight road east of the railway line. The route turns west onto Belmont Road, then returns north along the road beside the river to the finish in the village. The course is undulating, with a few short climbs in the first half and a descent in the final kilometre. Hydration stations are placed along the series courses, finishers receive a unique medal for each race, and parking is available.
