Togher AC 5k

The Togher AC 5k starts and finishes at Ryan's Supervalu in Togher, on the southside of Cork city, with the event HQ (registration and refreshments) at St. Finbarrs GAA club. The course runs mostly through the quiet housing estates that make up the Togher area, staying on suburban roads throughout rather than heading into the city centre or out onto open country roads. It is described by organisers as reasonably flat, giving runners a fast, straightforward course well suited to chasing a personal best on the last weekend of the year. After finishing, runners are directed to nearby St. Finbarrs GAA club, where refreshments are provided. Run annually by Togher AC in partnership with the Cork Mental Health Foundation, the race has grown into one of the best-attended New Year road races on Cork's winter calendar, regularly drawing well over 700 finishers despite often wintry conditions.
