About this race
The Blayney Rockets AC 10 Mile Road Race takes place at 10am in Castleblayney, County Monaghan, organised by Blayney Rockets Athletic Club. The predominantly flat, looped course takes runners on a scenic circuit around Lough Muckno, one of the largest lakes in the area and the centrepiece of Lough Muckno Forest Park. The race finishes at St Mary's Park, home of Castleblayney Faughs GAA Club. Now well established since its first running in 2014, the event has built a strong reputation among club and recreational runners across Ulster and beyond. Cash prizes are awarded to the overall male and female winners, with trophies also presented across the full range of age categories. The lakeside setting makes for a particularly scenic and enjoyable 10 miles, and the race continues to attract a strong and loyal field each year.

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind.
