About this race

The Ó Dubhda Challenge Half Marathon is organised by West Coast AC and takes place on Sunday 4 October 2026 in Enniscrone, County Sligo. The course starts and finishes at the Old Church on Main Street in Enniscrone and follows a picturesque one-loop route through the Enniscrone and Kilglass countryside on tarmac roads. The route takes runners through the rural landscape of west Sligo, passing through the Kilglass area before returning to the seaside town of Enniscrone on the shores of Killala Bay. The course is on tarmac roads throughout and regarded as scenic and fast. All participants receive a specially designed top. The event is chip timed and popular as a tune-up race ahead of the Dublin City Marathon, which takes place four weeks later.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
