About this race

The Sandymount Night Run 10k starts and finishes in Sean Moore Park in Sandymount, on the south side of Dublin Bay, with the start line at the corner of the park and the beach. The double-lap route runs out along Sandymount Strand, an exposed sandy stretch of coastline close to Dublin city centre, following a long, straight line with minimal turns on each circuit. The course is entirely flat, run on a firm coastal path rather than the beach itself, making it fast and suited to personal bests. Taking place on a midweek October evening, the race is run after dark, giving it a lively, floodlit atmosphere with thousands of runners taking part together. The event has built a reputation as an annual sell-out, drawing both competitive club runners chasing quick times and casual runners looking for a straightforward, sociable midweek 10k close to home.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
