About this race

The Cork BHAA Defence Forces 5k is an autumn Sunday morning race in Cork City. In 2025 it was held at Tramore Valley Park in Bishopstown, with the course following the tarmac paths and roads of the park. Organised in association with the Irish Defence Forces, the event is open to BHAA registered runners and non-registered participants. Registration takes place on the morning at the venue. It is one of two autumn races rounding out the competitive phase of the Cork BHAA calendar before the end-of-year events.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Loop Course type
0m limit 5.0m Start/finish drop
0.08km limit 2.5km Start/finish separation
