About this race
The Kilcullen AFC 5K starts and finishes at the club's soccer pitch, beside the Astroturf pitches in Kilcullen, County Kildare. The course runs on the public roads surrounding the town and is described by organisers as fast, making it a good option for beginners as well as those chasing a quick time. Registration takes place at the pitch before the race sets off, with refreshments served afterwards at the nearby Parish Centre. Held alongside a longer 10K on the same course network, it's a genuine community fundraiser for Kilcullen AFC, a local soccer club founded in 1968, with proceeds supporting the club's ongoing facilities. Prizes are awarded to the top finishers in both events, with an emphasis on a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for runners, joggers and walkers from Kilcullen and further afield.
