About this race
The Run Kilkee Half Marathon follows an out-and-back route that starts and finishes in Kilkee town, set along the Loop Head Peninsula in County Clare. The course is entirely on paved roads along the Wild Atlantic Way, offering views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding sea cliffs. The terrain features a challenging, undulating profile, including a steady incline over the first 5km and various rolling sections before returning to the finish near the town’s horseshoe bay.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
