About this race
The Run Kilkee 10k follows an out-and-back route along the Loop Head Peninsula, starting and finishing in Kilkee town near the horseshoe bay. The course is set on paved roads along the Wild Atlantic Way, traveling northwest toward the sea cliffs. The terrain features a steady climb over the first few kilometers, followed by rolling elevations as participants head toward the turnaround point before returning via the same coastal path to the finish line.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
