About this race
The Noel McManus Memorial Half Marathon follows a single-loop paved route that starts and finishes within the historic Lough Rynn Castle estate in Mohill, Co. Leitrim. The course departs from the castle grounds to navigate the quiet, scenic roads of the surrounding countryside, offering a longer and more testing circuit than the shorter distances. The terrain is notably picturesque but challenging, characterized by steady drags and rolling hills. Participants pass through local rural townlands before returning to the estate’s parkland for a grandstand finish near the Victorian gardens.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
