About this race

The Lahinch Half Marathon follows a scenic loop starting and finishing on the iconic Lahinch Promenade. The entirely paved route travels along the Liscannor Road, offering views of the Atlantic coastline before winding through Liscannor village and the surrounding Clare countryside. The course features a mix of level coastal stretches and rolling hills as it traverses rural roads along the Wild Atlantic Way. While the terrain is undulating, the path remains straightforward and accessible for runners seeking a scenic endurance challenge. The run concludes with a return to the seaside town for a finish right by the water's edge.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Loop Course type
0m limit 21.1m Start/finish drop
Negligible limit 10.5km Start/finish separation
