About this race

The Beragh 5mile road race begins and ends at St. Mary’s Park, the home of the Beragh Red Knights GAA grounds, which serves as the central hub for this long-standing community event. This scenic 5-mile circular course guides participants through the picturesque Mid Tyrone countryside, offering a refreshing and atmospheric rural backdrop. Runners follow quiet, paved public roads that lead through the heart of the village and pass through the nearby town of Sixmilecross. The terrain is characterized by its fairly undulating profile, providing a spirited challenge for athletes of all abilities. A notable feature of the route is a significant hill encountered around the 4km mark as the course weaves through Sixmilecross, before a rewarding stretch leads back toward the finish line.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
