About this race
The Beragh 5k begins and ends at St. Mary’s Park, the home of the Beragh Red Knights GAA club, which serves as the central hub for this popular annual community event. This scenic road course guides participants through the heart of the village and the tranquil Mid Tyrone countryside, offering a refreshing and atmospheric rural backdrop. Participants navigate a circular circuit on quiet, paved public roads that showcase the natural beauty and community spirit of the local area. The terrain is run entirely on permanent road surfaces, ensuring a firm and reliable foundation for athletes and walkers of all levels. While more accessible than the five-mile route, the course features a gently undulating profile that provides a spirited and rewarding challenge in a scenic setting.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
