About this race
The Great Glenville Run is a 4 mile road race that starts and finishes in the picturesque village of Glenville, in north Cork. The route heads out from the village on Main Street for approximately one mile, taking in a short incline, before turning left onto the network of quiet country roads that make up the remainder of the course. The final three miles are largely flat and fast, winding through the rural countryside around Glenville before looping back to the finish in the village centre. Organised jointly by Watergrasshill AC and Glenville GAA Club, the race has built a reputation among Cork runners as a fair, well-measured course suited to a fast time. Post-race refreshments are served nearby, adding to the event's friendly, community atmosphere. Entries are limited and have sold out in advance in recent years.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
