About this race
The Youghal Bay Half Marathon starts and finishes in the heart of the historic town, typically kicking off on North Main Street amidst a vibrant atmosphere. The two-lap course leads runners through the charming medieval streets before opening up to the breathtaking scenery of the Front Strand and the local Greenway. This route is renowned for being exceptionally flat and fast, offering a smooth surface that is ideal for athletes aiming for a personal best. Participants enjoy a scenic transition from the town’s ancient architecture to the refreshing coastal views along the bay. The entire circuit is held on closed roads, ensuring a professional and safe racing experience through one of East Cork’s most picturesque settings.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
