About this race

The Round Tower Hotel Ardmore 5 Mile is race 2 of 6 in the West Waterford AC Summer Series, taking place on a Friday evening in the picturesque coastal village of Ardmore, County Waterford. The course follows a two-lap circuit on the roads in and around Ardmore village, widely described as a fast course. Race headquarters and number collection are at Ardmore GAA club grounds. The event is sponsored by the Round Tower Hotel and post-race prizes and refreshments are provided at the same venue. Ardmore is one of Ireland's oldest Christian settlements, nestled on the Waterford coastline close to the Cork border, and the setting adds to the appeal of this popular evening race.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Point-to-point Course type
15m limit 8.0m Start/finish drop
1.63km limit 4.0km Start/finish separation
✗ Doesn't meet the course-profile criteria — net drop exceeds the World Athletics limit.
