About this race

The Village Run Half Marathon takes place in Ballylinan, Co. Laois, and is part of a multi-distance event organised by Ballylinan GAA in partnership with Pop Up Races. The chip-timed course starts and finishes at Ballylinan GAA Club and follows a flat loop through the open country roads surrounding the village. The course is known as a fast, PB-friendly route and is popular with runners preparing for autumn marathons. It is open to participants of all abilities. Registration and bib collection take place at Ballylinan GFC from 8:30am on race day. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers. All finishers receive a medal, and the event raises funds for the development of community sports facilities in Ballylinan.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
