About this race
The Village Run 10k is held in the village of Ballylinan, Co. Laois, and forms part of a multi-distance running festival organised by Ballylinan GAA in partnership with Pop Up Races. The chip-timed course starts and finishes at Ballylinan GAA Club and follows a flat, fast loop through the rural roads around the village. The course is widely praised as an excellent PB course and is used by many runners as a warm-up or benchmark ahead of the Dublin Marathon. It is open to runners and walkers of all abilities. Registration takes place at Ballylinan GFC from 8:30am. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each distance, with medals for all who complete the course.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
