About this race
The Sea2Sky 5k is part of the annual multi-terrain Sea2Sky event in Newcastle, Co. Down. The 5k course starts from Donard Forest, with runners required to walk from the registration area to the forest start — allowing approximately 15 minutes. The route takes in a mix of wooded and off-road terrain before descending to finish on the award-winning promenade in the seaside town of Newcastle, nestled between the Irish Sea and the Mourne Mountains. Chip-timed and open to runners of all abilities, the event is organised by Born2Run Events. Note: this is a multi-terrain course with off-road sections and distances are approximate. ⚠️ Multi-terrain — confirm eligibility for database.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
