About this race
The Sea2Sky 10k is a multi-terrain event now in its 13th year, starting from the promenade in Newcastle, Co. Down. The route leaves the coastal promenade and takes runners on a mix of road and track surfaces before heading up into the foothills of the Mourne Mountains. The first half of the course climbs gradually off-road through scenic terrain, reaching the 5k mark at an elevated vantage point offering sweeping views over Newcastle and the Irish Sea. Runners then descend back down to finish on Newcastle's promenade. Note: this race includes off-road trail sections and distances are approximate. ⚠️ Multi-terrain — confirm eligibility for database.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
