About this race
The Glen to Glen Half Marathon begins with a picturesque one-mile loop of the Glendalough Upper Lake before guiding runners onto the quiet, paved backroads of the Wicklow Mountains. The route features a sustained, "honest" climb along the historic Military Road to the summit of the Glenmacnass Waterfall, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding heather-clad peaks. While the first half is an attritional grind with significant elevation, the final 9km provides a thrillingly fast descent back toward the village of Laragh. Participants enjoy a 100% tarmac surface throughout, finishing at the Brockagh Centre amidst a supportive community atmosphere
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
