About this race

The EcoTrail Wicklow 10K starts and finishes at the Victorian bandstand on Bray's seafront promenade, in Co. Wicklow. From the promenade, the route climbs the coastal hill of Bray Head, giving views out over the Irish Sea, before a narrow trail leads over the secondary summits and down a grassy track to the Cliff Road. A short 800m stretch of tarmac connects to the Windgates trailhead, where a second climb follows the main Bray Head path before veering onto grassy single track. The trail narrows and descends sharply back towards the town, passing the ruined church known locally as Raheen-a-Cluig, before rejoining the promenade at the finish. Around 10.3km in total, the course is mostly hard-packed trail with three short rocky sections, with tarmac limited to the seafront and a brief pavement crossing, making it the most accessible distance in the series.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
