About this race

The Dingle Marathon follows a stunning full-loop starting and finishing in Dingle Town, traversing the scenic cliffs of Slea Head Drive on the Wild Atlantic Way. After passing through Dunquin, the route turns inland through Ballyferriter and Gallarus, featuring an entirely paved surface with frequent elevation changes. The course's greatest challenge is a notable, steep climb around mile 22, which is followed by a long descent and a final flat stretch back into the harbor.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

0.09km limit 21.1km Start/finish separation
