About this race

The Bweeng Trail Blazers 5k is an award-winning road race organised by Bweeng Trail Blazers AC in association with Bweeng Community Centre. The course starts approximately 500 metres from Race HQ, before heading back toward HQ and turning left onto the Lombardstown Road. The opening kilometre features a slight downhill gradient, giving runners a fast start. The route follows an out-and-back format, turning at the 2.5k mark. The middle section is largely fast with a small number of minor inclines; the out-and-back layout means any elevation gained in one direction is offset on the return. The final kilometre benefits from a slight descent, and the last 400 metres allows for a strong finish. The course is chip-timed from start to finish and is widely regarded as one of the fastest 5k courses in Ireland. Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Point-to-point Course type
32m limit 5.0m Start/finish drop
0.78km limit 2.5km Start/finish separation
✗ Doesn't meet the course-profile criteria — net drop exceeds the World Athletics limit.
