About this race
The Ballymacarbry 5 Mile is a long-established road race organised by West Waterford AC and sponsored by Doocey's Bar, held in the village of Ballymacarbry, County Waterford. Run on a fast out-and-back course along the Nire Road, the route heads out from the village into the surrounding countryside before turning and returning along the same road to the finish. The course is run entirely on tarmac and is known as a quick, honest test that draws a strong and competitive field each year. Set in a scenic part of the county at the gateway to the Nire Valley and the Comeragh Mountains, the race takes place on a summer Friday evening as part of the West Waterford summer series. Race numbers can be collected at the local community hall, where changing and shower facilities are available, adding to the event's welcoming, well-organised feel.
