About this race

The Mile Marker 10mile is an annual fundraising road race held at St Michael's National School in Danesfort, Co. Kilkenny. Now in its seventh year, the event raises funds for the school. The 10 mile consists of two laps of a looped course on local tarmac roads, starting outside the GAA grounds adjacent to the school and finishing at its rear. The course is predominantly flat with a couple of rolling sections per lap, becoming very flat over the final 2.5km of each loop. Roads remain open during the event with traffic management in place. Race start is 12 noon, with concurrent 5 mile and 5k options, plus a 1-Mile family dash at 11:40am. On-day registration is available from 9am. A tech top is included for all finishers.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
