About this race

The Griffith Avenue Mile is a straight, point-to-point mile road race run along Griffith Avenue in Marino, Dublin, one of the city's longest and best-known tree-lined residential streets. The race starts close to the junction with Upper Drumcondra Road and finishes just beyond Ard Scoil Ris secondary school, near the Malahide Road end of the avenue. The road is closed to traffic for the event, and the course is flat and fast, run entirely on tarmac along the avenue's wide, straight carriageway. It revives the original 1983 Dublin Straight Mile, on which US miler Sydney Maree once ran 3:49.30. Alongside the elite, chip-timed race, a non-competitive family fun run covers the same route for walkers and joggers of all ages. After finishing, participants make their way to a post-race festival at the nearby DCU All Hallows campus on Grace Park Road.
