About this race
The Glenmore Challenge Running Festival half marathon begins and ends at the Mullaghbouy Community Centre in Castletowncooley, which serves as the central race headquarters. This scenic single-loop course guides participants through the heart of the unspoiled Glenmore Valley, deep within the legendary Cooley Peninsula. Runners are treated to spectacular panoramic views as the route climbs to overlook Omeath, Carlingford Lough, and the majestic Mourne Mountains across the water. The terrain is notably hilly and challenging, consisting of well-maintained tarmac roads that wind through the rugged and historic landscape. Despite the demanding elevation, the course is celebrated for its breathtaking scenery and the strong camaraderie found at the lively finish-line festival.
